DAVID BERKOWITZ

David Berkowitz, better known as the “Son of Sam,” is one of the most well-known serial killers in American history. He terrorized New York City for over a year, killing six people and injuring several others, before he was finally caught in August of 1977. Berkowitz then became the subject of one of the most extensive manhunts in history, as authorities tried to determine whether or not there was a larger conspiracy at work. However, Berkowitz insisted that he acted entirely alone, and after years of speculation, the public seemed to accept his story. Over time, though, new evidence has emerged that calls this accepted narrative into question. In this article, we will explore some of the most intriguing of this new evidence, which has led some to propose that Berkowitz was not acting alone, and that he may have been a part of a vast right-wing conspiracy. A Closer Look At The Evidence David Berkowitz was born on September 9, 1953, in the Bronx, New York. He was the third of four children, and was described by his parents as a quiet and easygoing child.
