DONALD GASKINS

Donald Gaskins was a serial killer and robber who terrorized the streets of Atlanta in the early 1960s. He was also, apparently, an assistant cashier at a local grocery store. This is how he was able to murder and rob with such impunity. He would ambush his victims, overpower them, and drag them to secluded areas where he would torture and mutilate them. He would then steal the victim’s money, car, and valuables, and escape. Gaskins would often return to his robbery spots to clean up any evidence of his crimes. His murders and robberies were so well planned and executed that he was able to elude capture for nearly a decade. However, his luck finally ran out when a gas station owner, who had been robbed by Gaskins, recognized him from a police lineup. He was finally apprehended and put to death in 1965.
